The Beauty Of Renaissance Wedding Gowns
A wedding is very special for all that are involved. For the bride, it is one of the happiest times of her life. For a wedding, everything must be perfect, from the cake to the vows to the wedding dress. Some brides choose renaissance wedding gowns to wear on their special day, due to the beauty of the dresses and the classic styling of the gown. Renaissance wedding gowns can be hard to find, but with a little time and determination any bride should be able to find the gown of her dreams.
Renaissance wedding gowns have a distinctive look that sets them apart from other styles of wedding dresses. Many look as if they have come straight from the courts of King Arthur or were worn by Juliette while Romeo wooed her. Although there are many different styles of renaissance wedding gowns, a few of the elements typically stay the same. These gowns are generally white or white combined with cream colored elements and are comprised of an under-dress with an over-drape. The sleeves of the gowns are flowing, becoming tighter as they get closer to the wrist. The bodice is typically tight and beaded in intricate designs. Wearing one of these gowns can make any bride feel like a princess.
Obtaining Renaissance Wedding Gowns
There are few retailers that keep a wide selection of renaissance wedding gowns on hand. Many large retailers of wedding supplies, including wedding gowns, bridesmaid dresses, and monogrammed wedding items, will only have a few styles of renaissance wedding gowns on hand for purchase. Online retailers will typically have a limited selection of renaissance wedding gowns on hand as well, displaying three or four different styles in their online catalog. Because finding the perfect gown can be difficult, some brides choose alternate means to obtain their gown.
Some brides choose to obtain a renaissance period costume dress from a retailer that specializes in renaissance items and then have the costume modified into a wedding gown by a skilled seamstress. This route is tricky because if the dress is modified too much, it will take away some of the classic styling of the renaissance period and will not look like a renaissance gown any longer. This will not bother some brides that just want a beautiful dress, but it can be devastating to the bride having a renaissance themed wedding.
Another option is to have the gown created by a highly skilled seamstress. Some brides choose a picture of a renaissance period dress that they like and have the seamstress recreate the dress in white using lace and beading for the accents. This technique takes a great deal of time and costs a great deal of money. If a bride truly has her heart set on finding renaissance wedding gowns for her special day, with time and effort, she will be able to find one that she likes and can afford.
Good news for brides inspired by Audrey Hepburn and Grace Kelly, classic is back. Fabrics, silhouettes and accessories borrowed from the 1940s through 1960s offer brides the opportunity to start with the basics and enhance them with luxurious finishing touches.
