Silver Wedding Dress: Getting Married In Style

Published by Jennifer at 1:38 am under Wedding Dresses

A silver wedding dress is not common. It is usually the preference of the bride if she likes silver or not. The definition of silver may also be wider than you think since some brides consider very light gray colors as silver. A silver wedding dress can be considered an avant garde choice for first time brides since the usual choices go from white to very light cream and ecru. Other brides might also want to accent their wedding gowns with a particular color to make it more beautiful and striking.

Why Choose A Silver Wedding Dress

The choice of a silver wedding dress could be because the bride prefers the color silver and wants to get married in one. Other reasons could be that the wedding’s motif is silver and the bride wants her dress to complement the motif or the silver wedding dress could be a family heirloom that she wishes to wear on the wedding.

Yet another reason why brides choose to wear a silver wedding dress is that they might be celebrating their silver wedding anniversary. The 25th year of marriage is the year that is considered the silver wedding anniversary of couples. Silver is the color for the celebration of the 25th year. Brides who wish to celebrate their 25th year by renewing their vows can wear a silver wedding dress, if they want.

There are many possible designs for a silver wedding dress. Usually, it is the slimmer brides that can pull off a color like silver because silver can make you look heavier than you really are because of its shine. Many brides avoid shiny fabrics because these makes them look heavy.

A silver wedding dress would really be a unique one just as unique as other colored wedding gowns. Many brides strive to make their wedding gowns or dresses as unique as possible and making it a silver wedding dress just might do it. You will just have to bear in mind that it could make you heavier than you are and it could shine too much when the cameras flash.

Brides who prefer this kind of wedding dress will not mind the extra care they need to exercise as long as they get what they want. A wedding is a dream come true to most women and the wedding dress is like the icing on the cake. Brides are the center of attention on wedding days and they will certainly shine as they walk down the aisle in their silver wedding dress.

    Mel,

I am getting married this December in northern Sweden and am wearing along A-line silver dress from years ago that has never been worn. I bought it at Lord & Taylor at the time and the designer is Rhapsody. Everyone wears white or ivory, and I also wanted something different and now I don’t have to buy another dress that I won’t wear again.

I hope this helps. Good luck and congratulations!

Maggie Sottero website. There are at least 5 wedding dresses that come in silver. For the previous poster, all colors go with silver– but I would stick with a color in the blue family– turquoise, teal, blue, purple, etc.

I bought a silver wedding dress. I had initially wanted an ivory dress but tried this on and could not live without it. My fiance was going to wear an ivory shirt with his tux if I were to wear an ivory gown. WIth the silver dress (and there is a little gold on the bottom) is the ivory still appropriate? Thanks!
