Little Advice for Wedding Gifts
When it comes to buying wedding gifts some people obviously need practical advice and potentially a long list of what not to do when it comes to buying wedding gifts. The first rule of wedding gifts is that there is a reason why the bride and groom took the time to register themselves at various stores and then pick out the gifts they wanted. They did that so no one would complain that they did not know what to get as wedding gifts.
However at every wedding two things will always happen. The first is that the person that winds up giving the worst of the wedding gifts will always complain that they had no idea what the bride and groom wanted. This, of course, is a lie and should be dealt with by taking away the offender’s credit cards and telling them they cannot have them back until they learn how to properly shop and how to follow extremely simple instructions when it comes to buying wedding gifts. The bride and groom picked out what they wanted from a store and all you have to do is look at what they wanted and buy it. If that is too difficult then you should not be driving a car.
The next thing that inevitably happens is that multiple people will buy the same wedding gifts and it is always one of the cheapest gifts on the list. If the bride and groom wanted eight toaster ovens for their wedding gifts then they would have put that quantity on their registry. If the quantity says one and the one is already bought, then no they do not want another one and yes it will bother them if they happen to get doubles. Buying the cheapest gift over again means you didn’t feel like spending a few extra dollars on their special day and that does sting. So just follow the list and get what they asked for.
Not a Time to Be Creative
There is a reason why the bride and groom waste an entire weekend registering at various stores to let everyone know what gifts they want. The reason is that those are the wedding gifts they want. For some reason this is really difficult for some people to accept as some people feel that being creative is a great idea. It isn’t. If you want to do something cute for the bride and groom then arrange to do it at the reception but for the gifts - just stick to the list.
So do the bride and groom a favor and don’t stray from the list that they took hours to compile. You can get creative at the anniversary parties but for the wedding just do what the couple has asked. It really is that easy.
