Browsing Beautiful Dresses in Wedding Dress Catalogs

Published by Jennifer at 1:46 am under Wedding Dresses

Planning a wedding can be an extremely stressful time in a woman’s life. But browsing through wedding dress catalogs can be a bright spot in an otherwise difficult time. Many brides plan their weddings around their dress (planning the style of wedding to match the style of their dress), and wedding dress catalogs give you ideas for both.

What is in a Wedding Dress Catalog?

The main types of wedding dress catalogs are seasonal books that have the new styles for weddings. Some catalogs are designer-specific – they showcase the bridal gowns from one designer. Designers like Jessica McClintock and Vera Wang have new wedding dress catalogs each season with their newest creations. Many wedding dress catalogs show more than just bridal gowns. They feature coordinating bridesmaid dresses and accessories for your bridal party to match your perfect dress. Some larger bridal shops also have their own wedding dress catalogs. These feature dresses from many different designers, and are dresses that the shop carries or can order. They showcase a much wider variety of dresses and styles.

The Newest Generation of Wedding Dress Catalogs

While most wedding dress catalogs are available in paper form, more and more designers are putting their catalogs online. This means that they are more current, and you are not limited to what is carried in your area (a big bonus for those who don’t live in a major city). Some online wedding dress catalogs feature deep discounts on designer dresses. Others feature wedding gowns that have recently debuted on the runways in Paris. Online catalogs for the biggest designers sometimes even showcase wedding gowns that the designer hasn’t debuted yet, or gives you a glimpse into the designer’s creative process. Online wedding dress catalogs are also usually free; paper catalogs sometimes are only available for sale.

Using a Wedding Dress Catalog

One of the best reasons to browse through wedding dress catalogs is to get ideas for your wedding. Many brides like to cut out pictures of dresses they like, and can begin to narrow down the styles that they like before heading out to the store. Even if your local bridal store doesn’t carry the exact wedding dress from the catalog, you can bring the pictures to find gowns in a similar style. Some stores will even order the dress you find in a catalog for you. Many catalogs also feature other wedding planning ideas; floral arrangements and bridesmaid dresses are the most popular ideas from a wedding dress catalog.
